Conducting business successfully in your target foreign
market means understanding the culture of doing business there and meeting
the expectations of your prospective new clients. IBT’s culture seminars
concentrate on marketing techniques to help you achieve these goals.
Training your executives to demonstrate cultural
knowledge will only serve to enhance the acceptability of your company and
its products in your target market. Culturally appropriate behavior and
mannerisms are paired with practical marketing information to best prepare
your representatives to make the right impression and achieve the results
you envision for your company.

Do you need help with housing,
utilities, schools, etc.?
Would your spouse be happier with the
relocation if he/she were introduced to the differences between our Hoosier
lifestyle and the life left behind?
IBT’s native speaking instructor will
provide support to you and your spouse with our culture seminars.
The 4-hour seminar may be taught in
English or your birth language. The goal of the seminar is to alleviate many
of your anxieties about your relocation.
The seminar introduces you to our
midwest mentality, customs, laws regarding your children, and stresses of
life. You will learn about local clubs and organizations that include
members from your native country. A field trip serves to acquaint you with
the differences in shopping, helping you to locate foods with which you are
accustomed to preparing meals, and familiarizes you with your neighborhood
and city.
Additional hours may be arranged to
assist with practical issues of locating housing, setting up utilities,
enrolling children in day care or schools, etc.
For the executive travelling to the
U.S. alone, a private 4-hour seminar will address the midwest work
environment, co-worker interaction at the office and outside the workplace,
business vocabulary and may include business and/or report writing skills.
The executive guides the content of this seminar, and he/she may choose to
include any of the information delivered in the life skills seminar as well.
Your British English may cause some
problems in the U.S. where prepositions are used differently, American
English abounds with expressions, and differences in usage of many verbs and
nouns cause complete confusion or misunderstandings. English language classes
are available at IBT’s site or at your company. The language instruction
includes the vocabulary needed for solving the problems of day-to-day living
in the U.S., improves listening skills and overall comprehension, and
reduces accent.

Transferring out of the U.S.
Acculturation classes will best prepare
you and your spouse for life in the country to which you are being
transferred.
The goal of this class is to make
expatriation a welcome experience by giving you the information required to
enable you to cope with the stresses of the changes in your changed
lifestyle. Generally, expatriation is more successful when the spouse and/or
executive are prepared prior to their move.
IBT’s 1-day seminar is led by native
speakers who are familiar with customs and the necessities of day-to-day
living in your new resident country.
The seminar is held in our classrooms
and may be shared by the entire family.
Foreign
language classes are also available,
and are advisable so that you may be able to better understand and
communicate once you arrive.
